Release time:2024/01/16
Back list
In recent days, the global benchmark for consumer electronics, CES 2024, officially kicked off in Las Vegas, USA. CES, short for the International Consumer Electronics Show, held its inaugural event in 1967 and has a history spanning 57 years. Today, CES has evolved into an 'annual gathering' for the global consumer electronics industry, bringing together professionals, media, and exhibitors from different countries and regions to showcase cutting-edge technology, advanced products, and the future of technology development.
The CES 2024 conference will revolve around multiple themes including digital health, artificial intelligence, sustainability, esports, vehicle technology, digital cryptocurrencies, space technology, 5G technology, drones, and more. With the emergence of programs like ChatGPT and Bard, voice assistants, platforms like Netflix, and smart home appliances, AI technology has become increasingly pervasive. According to a research report released by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), the organizer of CES, 27% of Americans believe that AI technology has had a significant impact on their daily lives. AI-related applications are also a major focus of the event.

Digital Health
With the rapid advancement and application of AI technology, sensor technology, and the global aging population, consumer interest in vital signs and health levels has increased, making digital health products a market focus. According to a report by CTA, the healthcare sector is transforming digitization, personalization, segmentation, portability, and customization, driving suppliers, manufacturers, and retailers to innovate deeply and explore the potential of technology products.
For example, NuraLogix's Anura smart mirror measures heart rate, respiration rate, and stress, providing vital sign reports that can be discussed with doctors to assess health risks.
Baracoda's BMinder smart mirror with AI and NLP support guides users in self-affirmation, meditation, and offers therapeutic courses to reduce anxiety.
The new eye-tracking glasses, Mind Air, use micro-electromechanical systems for 3D modeling and motion tracking, helping determine scientific rest times, identifying mental fatigue, and recognizing peak mental periods for early treatment.
The Evie Ring smart ring is designed for women's health, tracking menstruation, sleep, heart rate, and activity.
The market for digital pet health monitoring is also thriving, with products like Invoxia's Minitailz smart pet tracker, measuring pet respiration, vital signs, and detecting atrial fibrillation (AFib). It attaches to collars and includes GPS tracking.
These products improve human health management, focus on pet health, and reflect the importance of health in the digital age.

Smart Homes
At CES, Amazon introduced material screen projection functionality in its devices. Users can directly open the Amazon Prime Video app and project videos onto devices compatible with the Matter standard.
Currently, this feature is applied to Amazon's smart display, Echo Show 15. Amazon stated that this feature will gradually support video playback platforms or hardware devices such as Plex, Pluto TV, Sling TV, Starz, and ZDF.
Samsung has added many new features to its smart TVs, making them the center of its SmartThings smart home platform. Samsung introduced the Smart Home Control feature, Now+, directly embedded in the TV interface, allowing users to control devices such as fans and air conditioners without closing the video playback interface. Smart TVs also come with object control functionality, supporting quick connection and control of corresponding devices.
Aqara showcased the new Ark smart hub M3, smart door lock U300, and border router plug at CES. As one of the first smart brands for whole-house support of the Matter standard, the Ark smart hub M3 is compatible with the Matter standard, and the smart door lock U300 and border router plug will fully support the Thread protocol.

Future of Automotive
At this year's CES, automakers like Honda, Hyundai, Vinfast, and more showcased their concept cars and electric vehicles.
Honda presented two electric concept cars, Saloon and Space-Hub, under the name "Honda 0 Series," symbolizing a fresh start to create new value. Saloon is positioned with a unique sedan style, while Space-Hub embodies MPV design.
The production version of Saloon is planned to debut in the North American market in 2026, gradually entering other markets. One of the highlights was the land and air integrated flying car by XiaoPeng Huitian, which made its international debut. This flying car features supercar design, an intelligent cockpit, and can switch between land and air modes, with the steering wheel and transparent dashboard changing accordingly.
NIO, in partnership with TuDaoTong and XREAL, showcased the ES8 and ET7 at CES. The ES8 is equipped with the PanoCinema panoramic digital cockpit, including NIO AIR Glasses, N-BOX enhanced entertainment host, 7.1.4 immersive sound system, and more.
At CES 2024, artificial intelligence (AI) was the highlight of the entire exhibition, with a focus on large-scale on-board applications by automotive manufacturers. The BMW Group showcased the XREAL Air 2 augmented reality glasses and intelligent personal assistant, presenting the development direction of BMW's new digital technology and future human-machine interaction.

In fact, the application of artificial intelligence in the automotive field can be divided into two main categories.
Firstly, there is the application in intelligent cockpits, improving human-machine interaction, and equipping vehicles with enhanced core capabilities like understanding, generation, inference, and memory, thus making interactions more natural and fluid, breaking away from rigid command-based interaction models.
The second category of applications utilizes generative technologies, for example, Haomo Zhihang released the DriveGPT large generative model for autonomous driving, aiming to address cognitive decision-making problems and ultimately achieve end-to-end autonomous driving. However, with the application of large-scale models, vehicles also demand higher computational capabilities, placing higher requirements on onboard chips.
When it comes to the competition in the electric vehicle sector, electrification is the key in the first half, while intelligence becomes crucial in the second half. The applications of intelligent cockpits and intelligent driving align perfectly with the use of AI large models, bringing tremendous opportunities to the automotive industry.
However, AI large models also face challenges in the automotive field, including high costs, issues of accuracy and safety, data privacy, and data quality. These challenges need to be thoroughly considered and addressed in applications to ensure the sustainable development and safety of AI technology.

Data Security and Quality
Data security and quality are crucial for any AI application. Whether in healthcare, finance, smart cars, or various aspects of artificial intelligence, data reliability and privacy protection are paramount. Firstly, data quality directly affects the performance and accuracy of AI models. Low-quality data may contain errors, noise, or incomplete information, leading to incorrect decisions or predictions by AI algorithms, potentially having severe negative impacts on users, businesses, or society. Therefore, the data collection, cleaning, and validation processes must be rigorously controlled to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
Secondly, data security is of utmost importance. With the increase in data storage and transmission, the risks of data leaks, theft, and misuse are also on the rise. Personal privacy data, business secrets, and sensitive information all need to be adequately protected. Appropriate encryption, authentication, and access control measures are essential components in ensuring data security, preventing unauthorized access, and data breaches.
Additionally, data compliance is also a challenge. Different countries and regions have their own regulations and rules regarding data collection and usage, and businesses must comply with these regulations to avoid potential legal risks and fines.
In summary, data security and quality are crucial for AI applications. Only through strict data management, privacy protection, and security measures can we ensure that AI technology can bring the maximum benefits to society, businesses, and individuals while reducing potential risks and issues. This is one of the key areas that the AI application field must continuously improve upon.
High-quality data requires the assistance of professional data companies for collection, cleaning, and annotation. DataOcean is one such company that provides high-quality annotated data for AI large models in various scenarios and modalities, while also offering integrated data customization solutions for different industries, laying the foundation for the implementation of AI algorithms.
